And the other point is we shouldn't have to adapt as fast as we're having to.

We still don't have to. We could change our consumption in a few years and still avoid a lot of this. But we won't


Species are rarely capable of adapting this fast to environment changes, and the point is we are bringing this fast change upon us ourselves.

It's just that this adapting will be a colossal waste of time, resources, and life. Better not to.
